Quality Control

Our quality control procedure begins at the design and component specification stage.

Heat is the major enemy in electrical products. Managing heat generation and dissipation is one of the first priorities to ensure a long product life.

The ME-T5 adaptor is designed to dissipate heat as fast as possible. The circuit boards are designed and orientated to minimise ‘hot spots’. The adaptor case material is specified to ensure that the adaptor runs as cool as possible.

Specifying the quality of the components used inside the adaptor is another key element. Only top quality branded capacitors and transistors are used. The capacitor in the ME-T5 adaptor is tested to run for at least 10,000 hours at 100 degrees and will run for up to 60,000 hours at its optimal operating temperature.

Every single ME-T5 adaptor is run for 3 hours at the factory and 10% of the adaptors are run for 24 hours, before they are shipped to the UK.

The adaptors are shipped in bulk, so that we minimise the environmental impact of shipping unnecessary packaging to the UK.

Upon arrival in the UK, a random sample of adaptors is then sent for compliance testing and component assurance at an independent UK test centre.

We then test at least 40% of the adaptors to ensure that they haven’t been damaged in transit. Each adaptor is installed in a test unit and switched on. Every single adaptor is visually inspected before being packed and sent out to our customers.

Finally, we contact our clients on a regular basis to check that there are no problems and so that we can deal with any issues swiftly.

From this information we have built up a detailed failure log that has allowed us to identify the cause of any issues and feed the information back to the factory for further product improvement.

In 2011 our objective is to achieve a failure rate of less than 0.5%.
